Earlier today, it was announced that Gotham FC striker Esther González was nominated for the 2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or. She is one of 30 players to be nominated, joining Spain teammates Aitana Bonmatí and Mariona Caldentey. You can read the full list here.

It’s the first nomination for the 32-year-old striker. González is currently at the top of the Golden Boot race in the National Women’s Soccer League, with 10 goals through Matchday 14. That comes on top of being named the winner of the Grifols Top Scorer for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, scoring four goals in six games.
